Soft sand on Frenchman's Track

The Frenchman's Track is about half-way up Cape York Peninsula on the eastern side near the beautiful Lockhart River area. It was similar to the Overland Telegraph Line further north (see later photos) in terms of its very demanding nature. Soft sand, rocky ascents and descents, and the Pascoe and Wenlock Rivers made it very difficult, especially with fully laden bicycles, but we prevailed. Notice Honorata's footprints and wheelprints heading off into the distance in this photograph.
