Yet more sand on the OTL

These sand sections, found throughout Cape York, generally lasted for a hundred to several hundred metres or so and were impossible to ride. The energy required to push a fully laden bicycle through them was exhausting. It was during these sections that I was most likely to hear Honorata swear. Imprecations emanating from Honorata's mouth became a barometer of how dire a situation was on Cape York. Prior to commencing our journey on Cape York Peninsula I'd never heard Honorata swear. That Honorata's abstinence from rude words was broken on Cape York Peninsula is surely the most compelling evidence I can offer of the often cruel and demanding nature of travelling under your own steam in this huge wilderness area.
