Giddy delight at having bicycled to The Tip

We camped the night of June 18th 300m back from The Tip after atrocious weather forced us to abort our final assault on Cape York. Then on Thursday 19th June 2008, with the sun still below the eastern horizon of the Torres Strait, we walked our bicycles in the early dawn light (it was impossible to ride them) the final 300m to the northernmost tip of the Australian continent after 4000km of sometimes quite demanding cycling, to put it mildly. The sense of achievement in having reached this goal was really quite profound, more so for the fact that we did it alone and unsupported.
